J-head mounting with ZTW extruder

Here is a place we can talk about using ZTW CNC platform for 3D printing. Your experience with software setup, configuration for different type of filament and etc.

J-head mounting with ZTW extruder

Postby pendragn » Sat May 18, 2013 12:34 am

I am a new 7x12 F8 ZTW owner, and I am building my 3D printing rig, and am excited!

I had a question though, that does not seem to be answered by other threads here. I purchased a MarkV-B J-head and the aluminum mounting plate, but I do not see how easily to mount either to the extruder assembly. The aluminum plate was not expensive, so I don't have to use that but here is what I purchased:

J-head: http://www.reprap-usa.com/index.php?rou ... duct_id=53
mounting plate: https://www.hotends.com/index.php?route ... duct_id=81

The ZTW extruder is mounted near the bottom left of the y-axis, and the J-head needs to be fairly in line with the filament that comes out so as to not bind....I as assuming that I would need to create some sort of mount for the nozzle so that everything lines up....does anyone have detailed pictures they could share of their setup on how they did that?

Thanks!

Pendragh,

When I put my printer together, I did not use the mount from Jhead.
Xin found a mount for the Jhead, that with a few washers to space it out right, works like a champ.

I am not sure were he got it from, but if you drop him an email I am sure he can put you on track for getting one.

Pendragh,

After looking at things closely, I find that the mount is nothing more than a shaft support.

I believe it is 5/8", and found one like it here....

This has worked will for me......

I purchased the same JHead MKV-B and just noticed that it's for 3mm filament size but the extruder says it's for 1.75mm filament. Will the extruder support the 3mm filament?

EDIT- It will only work for the 1.75mm.
