It seems a little quiet around here so i thought I would post some quick pictures of my latest creations! As a hobby, I do some product design consulting, which deffinitely contributed to purchasing the Zen. Well, I am finally starting my first *production* run and wanted to show off my preliminary setup. I designed some clamps with a counterbore on one side, and a 2mm lip on the other side to allow me to hold down HDPE bar stock. (1/2" and 1/4" thick). To mount the clamps to the table, I used 1/2" MDF and cut in some pockets that would hold a hex nut and screws to retain the hex nut. As you can see, I still need some blocks to support the backside of the clamp. I will try to post some DXFs someday soon.
Plastic chips are terribly annoying, and messy, not to mention difficult to contain. Until I finally get around to building a killer ZenClosure, I have developed a hi-tech chip containment system - built from the highest quality 8x10 Lexan, 8x10 Polystyrene and a ceral box. For lighting, I resurected a $5.00 lamp from Goodwill. It no longer had a base, so I just screwed it right to my workbench.
