New Stepper Driver Available @ ZTW!!

Postby calexander » Sat Aug 28, 2010 5:16 pm

The new and improved Zen 3X Driver with enclosure!

This new driver has an enclosure for common environmental protection (as well as for those oily potato chip fingers you might have). Printed on the enclosure are labels so users can quickly identify each port for the motors. We also have a table printed on the top laying out the Pin, Resolution and Decay settings so no more guess-work while configuring your CNC software!

Check out the new Zen 3X Driver for more details at the Zen Toolworks store:

You can reply to this post to ask questions about this model.

Thanks!

How do you set the amps and what is the diff between the 17 motor for 7x7 and 23 motor for 12x12?

there won't be much difference in amperage draw between the motors used in our 7x7 and 12x12. I will suggest use the defualt setting I have preset it when the box shipped. If you don't feel you got enough torque or reach desired speed, you can open the box and increase the amperage output. I will put some tutorials out there in wiki. I have put 1/3 of the max when I ship the box.

Thank you

I already put together a basic documentation covering this model. But, it's not like you need it -- Xin designed the enclosure to include all of the settings printed on it ! :)

Let me know if there are questions that are not answered. I look forward to include missing items; things I forgot to add, to our documentation

I have not spoken with Xin yet, but I think that the 7x7 Complete Package was so successful that we ran out of our initial batch of enclosed driver boards. The Complete Package is not on the website right now either which is what brings me to this conclusion.

When this happens (and it's rare) we always put a rush on getting a new batch together so I'll let you know when we get them. With any luck, Xin may have one or two set aside just for this purpose and may contact you soon. Either way, we'll let you know.

So i have the new driver board, and the it looks totally different from what the wiki shows. I would like to get some more torque but I am not sure how to test the current the driver is pushing out( i have never worked with bi-polar motors) could someone please assist on how I can adjust and make sure I do not blow out the motors? Thanks

This is just to answer the Wiki concerns...

The navigation takes you to the 2010 Driver Board profile page.
http://wiki.zentoolworks.com/index.php/ ... oller_Card

At the bottom is an "Previous Versions" section with a link to the previous.

I'm not familiar with the 2010 card design, so I will defer to Xin on that...

ya looked at the top link, still no luck. I saw the turn nob that is similar to the old design, I dont want to break anything since I finally all got it working. I am not sure how to measure the current to the motors if someone can help me with the bi-polar design and measuring the current.
