Sparky,

Thanks for the lead on the sd cutter. Works great and is a huge time saver.

Yeah, it's a cool little machine. Glad to hear it's working for you.

I bought one too ... and I am already looking at upgrades to one that does up to 2mm balsa called a KNK Zing. Only $400 new and apparently a quality piece of kit. But for now a 2nd hand Silhouette SD only cost me $120, barely used (until I got it!). Thanks Sparky!

Hey, I love hearing about new gadgets and that Zing looks interesting, especially since it's 'open source'. The Cricut machine a few years ago looked impressive, except that it was restrictive in that you had to purchase font and canned graphics cartridges for it. Combining the Zen router with a vinyl cutter - and now a foam cutter - opens up a lot of new creative possibilities.
BTW, my crafty daughter just bought a UV process rubber stamp machine. I'm anxious to hear about it.

;) No sparky ... don't mention any more cool gadgets ... I can't afford to hear of anymore ;)

I am not sure how truly "open source" the Zing is .. I think they just mean the software they supply will work with most of the standard image formats without any extra upgrades required (like Silhouette Studio) or that you can run just about any material through it perhaps ... but I haven't been able to find any other evidence or meaning to their open source phrase.
